Kennel Registration

A registered kennel prefix is a breeder's unique identity and serves as the official name under which dogs are bred and registered with the Kennel Club of Pakistan (KCP). The kennel prefix forms an important part of a dog's registered name and helps establish the breeder's reputation, breeding program, and bloodlines.

All breeders intending to breed and register litters with KCP must first obtain a registered kennel prefix. Kennel registration is available exclusively to KCP members. Applicants who are not already members of the Kennel Club of Pakistan must obtain KCP membership before applying for kennel registration.

Eligibility

To apply for a kennel prefix, the applicant must:

  • Be a current member of the Kennel Club of Pakistan.
  • Submit a completed kennel registration application.
  • Comply with all KCP Rules and Regulations relating to breeding and registration.

Kennel Prefix Rules

  • Each KCP member may register only one kennel prefix with the Kennel Club of Pakistan.
  • A kennel prefix must be unique and shall not duplicate or closely resemble an existing registered kennel name.
  • KCP reserves the right to approve, reject, or request modification of any proposed kennel prefix.
  • Once approved, the kennel prefix becomes the breeder's official identity for all registrations and breeding records maintained by KCP.
  • The registered kennel prefix must be used in accordance with KCP naming regulations for all eligible litters bred under that kennel.

Affiliated Breed Clubs

While a member may hold only one kennel prefix registered with KCP, they may register a separate kennel prefix with an affiliated breed club in accordance with the rules and regulations of that club.

Importance of Kennel Registration

Kennel registration helps maintain accurate breeding records, preserves breeder identity, and promotes accountability within the canine community. It also enables breeders to establish a recognized reputation for producing dogs that meet the highest standards of health, temperament, and breed type. The Kennel Club of Pakistan encourages all breeders to uphold responsible and ethical breeding practices and to contribute positively to the improvement and preservation of purebred dogs in Pakistan.
