Our History

Mr. Muzaffar Husain was one of Pakistan's leading dog fanciers and a central figure in the revival of KCP. He owned German Shepherd Dogs of high international quality that competed successfully at German Sieger Shows, as well as dogs of several other breeds. His regular attendance at major events in Germany and the United Kingdom, including Crufts, gave him valuable international exposure.

A senior civil servant with strong leadership and administrative ability, Mr. Husain brought together a group of active dog fanciers in 1982 and proposed the revival of the dormant Club. Under his leadership, the necessary legal work was completed, a Board of Management was formed and the KCP constitution was prepared. He also led a membership campaign that helped establish a strong base for the revived organisation.

The Club had very limited financial resources in its early years. Mr. Husain personally supported its operations and used his own funds to invite respected international judges to Pakistan. He encouraged and trained people to assume responsibility for show management and other Club functions, helping to prepare the next generation of KCP leaders.

Mr. Muzaffar Husain served as President of KCP from 1983 to 2006. His vision, generosity and sustained commitment transformed the Club into an active national organisation. He is rightly remembered as the father of the revived Kennel Club of Pakistan.

Colonel K. M. Roy came from a hunting family and grew up around Labradors, Pointers and Springer Spaniels. His early interest centred on working gundogs. In 1982, Mr. Muzaffar Husain introduced him to the show dog community and invited him to join the KCP Board. Colonel Roy later served as Secretary while continuing his involvement with both working and show dogs.

Following Mr. Husain's passing, Colonel Roy was elected President of KCP in 2008. If Mr. Husain is remembered as the father of the revived KCP, Colonel Roy is widely regarded as the architect of its development on modern international lines. He led the revision of rules and procedures to bring them into closer alignment with FCI requirements and worked consistently to establish KCP as Pakistan's recognised representative in international canine affairs.

During his leadership, KCP joined the Asia Kennel Union and progressed through the FCI membership structure from Contract Partner to Associate Member and then Full Member. His presentation at the FCI General Assembly in Leipzig in 2017 was instrumental in securing full membership for Pakistan.

Colonel Roy's calm leadership, knowledge and mentoring approach earned him lasting respect within the dog community. His contribution gave KCP international visibility and helped establish it as a structured and active national kennel club.

Mr. Imran Husain played an important role during the formative years of the revived KCP. He joined the Board of Management in 1983 and brought extensive knowledge of international dog shows and canine activities. His experience included German Sieger Shows and Crufts, and he was also closely involved with German Shepherd Dogs.

As Chairman of the KCP Show Committee for more than two decades, he helped establish organised dog shows and introduced owners to the value of structured competition. He guided local show committees in event planning, ring organisation and record keeping, setting standards that influenced show management across the country.

Mr. Husain was also an accomplished dog handler. He organised handling classes and trained newcomers, many of whom later became leading show managers and officials within KCP. His guidance helped build the practical skills and confidence needed to conduct shows professionally.

Through his long service, Mr. Imran Husain helped create the foundation of KCP's modern show culture. His contribution to show organisation, handler development and the training of future officials remains an important part of the Club's history.

Mr. Nasir Ishaq Malik is a dedicated dog fancier with extensive experience in German Shepherd Dogs, Labradors and Pointers. He has regularly attended major international events, including German Sieger Shows, Crufts and World Dog Shows. He is also a longstanding enthusiast and breeder of Arabian horses.

Before being elected Secretary of KCP in 2022, he served as the Club's Show Coordinator and managed numerous CACIB and Gundog Speciality Shows. This practical experience gave him a detailed understanding of show administration, registry work and the needs of members.

Mr. Malik played a leading role in modernising KCP's data, registry and record keeping systems. Drawing on the practices of established kennel clubs around the world, he promoted the use of information technology, digital workflows and more transparent administrative and financial processes. His work supported KCP's transition towards a more accessible and efficient paperless system.

He has also advised affiliated clubs on administration and transparency and has helped resolve disputes within the wider dog community. As a breeder and exhibitor, he imported dogs from leading international lines and supported breeding programmes that broadened and strengthened Pakistan's gene pool.

His contribution represents an important stage in KCP's continuing development: the move from traditional administration towards integrated digital records, improved member services and stronger institutional control of the national canine database.
